The Flying Alpaca
Two Italians, a Farm, and a Whole Lot of FluffYou know those people who dream big and actually follow through? That’s Barbara and Michele. Two Italians with comfortable city jobs and zero farm experience decided to ditch it all for the Irish countryside.
Why? Because West Clare stole their hearts—and maybe their common sense.
Romantic and idyllic? Sure. Covered in mud 80% of the time? Also yes.
It all started when they decided that the Irish countryside, with its rolling fields and laid-back vibes, was calling their names. So, they packed up and landed in Loop Head, ready to embrace their inner farmers.
First came the “easy” part: renovating an Irish cottage and building stables. No big deal, right? They worked like crazy, sometimes wondering if they’d lost the plot. But they didn’t stop there. They needed animals, of course, because what’s a farm without furry chaos?
Once they had a roof over their heads and a place for animals, the real fun began.

A Whole Lot of Fluff
BOOKING IS ESSENTIALYuki
First came a dog—because what’s a farm without one? Enter Yuki, the self-proclaimed “friendliest dog ever.” She greets every visitor with a wagging tail and a grin that could melt even the grumpiest heart. Technically, Yuki was supposed to be a farm dog, but let’s be real—she’s a full-time house dog now. Spoiled? Absolutely. Loved? Unquestionably. As far as she’s concerned, the farm revolves around her, and honestly, she might not be wrong.

Chickens
Then came the chickens, rescued from battery cages and immediately transforming into the farm’s sassiest residents. Harry Potter, the rooster, leads the charge with his ladies—Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Pink—strutting around like they own the place. And honestly? They do. These feathered divas have traded cramped cages for free-range fabulousness, and they’re not shy about showing it off. Whether it’s pecking at snacks or just flaunting their feathers, they’ve made it clear who really runs the farm.

Alpacas
Finally, they hit the jackpot: alpacas. They started small with just four, but these fluffy charmers are addictive. Fast forward, and now the farm boasts ten alpacas! Each one has its own personality—some are sweet and cuddly, others mischievous, grumpy, or adorably introverted. Basically, there’s an alpaca for everyone’s taste. Whether you’re looking for a snuggle buddy or a sassy sidekick, they’ve got you covered. Want to meet them all? Check out their page!

Pygmy Goats
But wait—because two pygmy goats, Nutella and Oreo, arrived later, bringing all the sass and mischief you’d expect from pint-sized farm comedians.

Where the magic happens
These fluffy charmers strut their stuff through the countryside,
Now, The Flying Alpaca is where the magic happens. And by “magic,” we mean the best alpaca walks you’ll find anywhere. If you think walking a dog is fun, wait until you’re holding the leash of an alpaca with attitude. These guys have personalities. They’ll check you out, strike a pose, and honestly, you’ll be working for their approval. Pro tip: bring your camera, because alpaca selfies are 100% a thing. You might even get a kiss (from the alpacas, not Michele).
Barbara and Michele are the heart and soul of The Flying Alpaca. They’re the kind of people who trade “safe and sound” for “muddy and magical” and never look back. You’ll hear them laugh about their journey, from figuring out how to build stables to wrangling goats (spoiler: the goats usually win).

Meet the animals, enjoy the countryside!Barbara and Michele have turned their dream into a place where people can escape the grind and do something completely different. It’s not about dramatic cliffs or sweeping vistas (we’ll leave those to the postcards). It’s about the charm of the countryside—open fields, fresh air, and some very quirky animals.
The alpacas are the stars of the show, but the goats, chickens, and Yuki definitely pull their weight in the entertainment department. And while you’re here, you’ll probably hear Barbara and Michele’s wild story. Spoiler: it’s all about taking risks, getting covered in mud, and loving every minute of it.
So, come on down. Meet the animals, enjoy the countryside, and hear the tale of two Italians who swapped espresso for wellies and never looked back. You’ll leave with a smile, a ton of photos and great memories!
